New Video!
Terminator 2: Judgment Day(1991) – 10/10. Most likely the greatest action movie ever to graze the silver screen. The writing, special effects and story are flawless. Very rarely does a sequel top the original but this does just that. A total classic.
The Godfather(1972) – 10/10. I don’t think it’s the greatest movie of all time like most people seem to. However, it is immaculate filmmaking and directing and is certainly one of my all time favorites.
Tower of Terror(1997) – 6/10. This is pretty much the children’s version of The Shining. However, it seems to fall apart toward the end and never reach its potential. Still much better than The Haunted Mansion film though.
The Godfather: Part II(1974) – 10/10. Hands down, the best sequel in the history of cinema. It may even top the original.
Drag me to Hell(2009) – 10/10. The best horror movie of the past two decades. It is official that Sam Raimi is back and I wholeheartedly welcome his return. I have even forgiven him for the catastrophe that was Spider-man 3.
Up(2009) – 10/10. Pixar continues to one-up itself. I think this is their best yet.
The Godfather: Part III(1990) – 7/10. It’s a mess compared to the first two films but it is still a good film that is worth watching if you’re a Godfather fan. I was let down but I don’t think it’s quite as bad as most people claim it is.
Fanboys(2009) – 8/10. Hilarious and wonderful. This is a great homage to Star Wars geeks everywhere.
Taken(2008) – 9/10. This is one very well done and acted revenge film. The beginning and the end don’t seem to fit with the rest of the movie though.
The Mist(2007) – 10/10. One of the best Stephen King adaptations so far. Very scary and disturbing.
The Hitcher(1986) – 10/10. A classic in my book. This thriller holds up perfectly to this day.
Charade(1963) – 9/10. I’ve always loved the combination of comedy and violence, this is no exception. Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn give two wonderful performances.
Terminator Salvation(2009) – 7/10. I’m being a iittle generous with this rating. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed this movie but with MCG’s directing, it was really more special effects than story.
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian(2009) – 7/10. A pretty good sequel but it falls short of the heart of the first one.
Casino(1995) – 10/10. It’s a three hour long movie but it engages the viewer the whole way through. Amazing film.
The Black Hole(1979) – 9/10. A criminally underrated film that belongs up there with Star Wars and 2001.
The Incredible Shrinking Man(1957) – 10/10. This is classic Sci-Fi gold. Everyone should be required to see it.
Four Brothers(2005) – 8/10. A great revenge throwback to the 70’s. Very fun.
The Poughkeepsie Tapes(2007) – 9/10. Honestly the most terrifying film I’ve seen in a long time.
Die Hard 2(1990) – 5/10. Entertaining but also cliché. It doesn’t compare to the original.
Star Trek(2009) – 10/10. Coming from a non Star Trek fan, this movie is amazing. Everyone needs to see it!
Child of Glass(1978) – 9/10. A fun, forgotten Disney movie that you should see if you can find it. Hopefully it gets a DVD release soon.
Song of the South(1946) – 10/10. This one is a must see but unfortunately has never been released on any form of video in the US.
Quarantine(2008) – 8/10. A worthy remake that is a good follow to The Poughkeepsie Tapes for the Dowdle brothers.
The Warriors(1979) – 8/10. Great fun in this one. I wish more filmmakers today were inspired by films like this.
Hustle and Flow(2005) – 8/10. A lot better than I was expecting. There is a lot of raw emotion packed into this little film.
Taxi Driver(1976) – 10/10. In my book, probably the best movie ever made. De Niro is flawless in this one.
The Hitch-Hiker(1953) – 7/10. I think I was expecting this to be much better but it still had some great and creepy scenes.
Coming to America(1988) – 8/10. Eddie Murphy before he started making horrible decisions. A hilarious film.
Dick Tracy(1990) – 9/10. I think this movie is very sadly underrated. Madonna is annoying but Warren Beatty and Al Pacino give awesome performances.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine(2009) – 7/10. Though I had already seen the workprint, I wanted to see the finished product. It’s a very good movie and not as bad as people are saying. It may be cliché but not every movie can be another Dark Knight. My only other problem was the horrible CGI but it’s still fun and worth seeing.
Chinatown(1974) – 10/10. An amazing noir that showcases the wonderful talents of Jack Nicholson and Roman Polanski.
